Diving In Bintan

Forty-five minutes’ ferry ride from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, the north of Bintan is one of the nearest destination from Singapore available for diving. The visibility and underwater architecture are nothing to brag about, but there’s certainly plenty to see. Visibility can be restricted from 3 – 8 metres. On certain weekends, visibility can go up to 10 metres. The bottom is shallow, currents are mild during the season, which is perfect for beginners.

The proximity to Singapore brings advantages for sure though, with funds for infrastructure, resorts’ developments and professional diving programs developed by Singaporeans. Our dive centre is situated in the resort and in the vicinity of dive sites, with most of them located ten to fifteen minutes away.

There are no deep dives here, as all sites are shallow, with some even lesser than ten metres. There is plenty of time to check-out the underwater world. Imagine 60 – 70 minutes each dive and no decompression stops needed. There is plenty to grab the attention of more advanced divers, especially those who enjoy macro-life. The shallow fringing reefs are full of hard corals with creatures that requires a keen divers’ eye.
Nudibranchs and flatworms are abundant, anemones and spunky clownfish are aplenty, the elusive crustaceans that occasionally comes out of their lairs for a scuttle or scavenge.
